The 2026 Olympus Rally was a massive event! Almost 300 total miles with 98 competitors. An astonishing 12 cars competing in RC2 including A return by champ Brandon Semenuk and debute of World Rally legend Jari Matti Latvala on American soil! The deck was stacked but excitement was high!

The car was expertly repaired and re-prepped by the crew at TRF and packaged up for the long haul to Shelton, Washington. Rain had fallen prior to the event making a very slick shakedown session. The test session went well and confidence was high going into the massive amount of recce miles. After notes and review the team was ready for day one.

Parc Expose kicked off the event at Toyota of Olympia in Olympia, Washington. The crowds were massive and Viv had no shortage of fans and friends to swap stories with.

Car 964 received massive attention and fans loved seeing Viv and his car up close.

The day one stages were fast and loose. The unusually rain free conditions made the open sections very dry and extremely dusty. In the confines of the trees, sheltered from the sun the road surfaces were surprisingly damp and slippery. Day one claimed a huge amount of vehicles, with cars off the road everywhere.

Viv and Michael pressed on improving times and gaining confidence all the while a boost hose had other ideas. Down on power but able to return to service the crew was happy to be in the fight. Service began and the boost hose was repaired. This was to be the pace of the weekend.

The trials and tribulations of several mechanical issues took the team out of the fight but Viv and Michael were happy to have gained a great deal of seat time and car development. Huge improvements were made and the team’s confidence grew. Unfortunately the car finally relented and didn’t finish the race. Throwing in the towel on the second to last stage. The time spent on course was valuable and mechanical issues a normal part of rally and car development.

All smiles following the event. Huge thanks go out to the volunteers and organizers for putting together such a well run event. A big thanks to the TRF crew for pushing through and to Antoine L’Estage for being on hand for coaching.

It’s always great to see the fans that turn out to be a part of these events and the support of the rally community. Onwards!
